Treating Floaters with a Laser - LASER VITREOLYSIS

What is a Floater?

floatersFloaters are small non-transparent bits of vitreous humor (gel) in the back of the eye. They are common (7/10 experience some floaters). A smaller percentage of those have dark, center and visually disturbing floaters that interfere with their ability to function and enjoy life.

They Can Be Treated

Basically the choices are 1) Do nothing and learn to live with it, 2) Invasive Vitrectomy surgery to remove all the vitreous gel, and now 3) Using the Nd:YAG Laser to vaporize and eliminate or significantly reduce these floaters. Laser Vitreolysis is deemed low risk and non-invasive. Dr. Johnson is one of just three Laser Surgeons in the US (the others are in Virginia and Florida) treating these floaters with a laser
